5-0! Howell Football kept its perfect season rolling Friday night with a dominant 43-7 victory over Wayne Memorial, putting together a complete performance on both sides of the football. The Highlanders wasted no time getting started. Bryce Kish powered into the end zone on Howell’s opening drive and added his second touchdown midway through the first quarter to quickly give the Green & Gold a 14-0 advantage. Arber Korkut kept the scoring going, fighting his way into the end zone for a touchdown before a successful two-point conversion pushed the lead to 22-0. Korkut struck again midway through the second quarter when Palmer VanDeven connected with him for a 22-yard touchdown pass, extending Howell’s lead to 29-0. Sophomore Logan Buchanan added another touchdown before the break as the Highlanders took a commanding 36-0 lead into halftime. Howell’s defense was equally impressive. Frank Kanka recorded two sacks, while Alex Adam came away with an interception as the Highlanders kept Wayne Memorial off the scoreboard through the first three quarters. The night also featured a memorable first for quarterback Levi Racey, who weaved through the defense, escaped tacklers and dove into the end zone for his first Varsity touchdown, giving Howell a 43-0 fourth-quarter lead. Wayne Memorial added a late score, but the night belonged to the Highlanders as Howell finished off the 43-7 victory and improved to a perfect 5-0.
